PA High School Computer Fair 2011

2011 Workshops

This year at the state competition we are excited to announce three interactive workshops. Each Intermediate Unit will be given two passes for the Digital Movie workshop, one pass for the Animation workshop, and one pass to the GarageBand Workshop for interested students. The technology quiz bowl will be on a first-come, first-served basis and will be repeated to accommodate all students not attending workshops or going on the college tour.

Digital Movie Workshop

This workshop will allow students to be involved in all aspects of creating a short movie. Students will do the writing, the shooting, the storytelling, the graphics, the music, and the editing. This is an all day workshop, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a break for lunch, and will culminate with presenting the finished movie at the awards ceremony.

Workshop Presenter: Jerry Kambic

Animation Workshop

This workshop is where students will be learning how to create an animated logo. The students will learn how to create storyboards, model simple objects, texture and animate. This workshop, will run from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a break for lunch. Projects will be presented at the awards ceremony.

GarageBand Workshop

Unleash your inner rock star with a hands-on workshop that puts you on stage in Apple's GarageBand. Play an instrument or love to sing? You'll love recording, mixing, and listening to your own song. Not a musician? No problem! Create a podcast or radio show with sound effects, jingles, commercials and more. Come jam with us from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., then hear your project played at the awards ceremony.

Workshop Presenter: Brandon Lutz

Technology Quiz Bowl

Students will form small teams to compete in an interactive quiz game with other computer fair participants. Have some fun using the interactive remote sensors and test your knowledge!

Viewers Choice Awards

This year some of the Digital Movie projects that are competing in the computer fair have been loaded onto the Video on Demand Library of CCiTV - http://ccitv.cciu.org. On Friday, May 21, the Viewers Choice Awards will begin. After viewing the movies, students, parents, teachers, family and friends can click on a link to vote for their favorite movie. The Viewers Choice Awards will end at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, May 25th. The movie with the most viewer votes will be recognized at the awards ceremony. We are asking that all viewers adhere to the honor system and only vote one time.
